Tamarack Cellars

Pretty notes of vanilla, blackberry, cherry and rose petals. On the palate, caramel and jammy black fruit. Well-balanced, with soft tannins and a bright acidity, leading into a lengthy, smooth finish.

Wine Spectator

Firm with tannins, with spicy berry and orange peel flavors that persist on the open-weaved finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Petit Verdot and Carmenère. Drink now through 2014. 13,100 cases made.

Score: 87. —Harvey Steiman, 2011.

Wine Advocate

The 2009 Firehouse Red is a multi-regional blend of 9 varietals aged for 16 months in 40% new oak. Dark ruby red in color, it displays a pleasant perfume of spicy red fruits, dried herbs, and floral notes. This sets the stage for a forward, easy-going, tasty offering with some complexity and length. It is an excellent value meant for drinking over the next 3-4 years.

Score: 87. —Jay Miller, October 2011.
